Díospoireacht as Gaeilge
Well done to Kayleigh, Jessica and Niamh who volunteered to get involved in the Gael Linn Senior Irish language debates. Thanks also goes to their teacher Mr Twomey for the time and effort he put into preparing the girls. The girls were for the propostion that this government is hard on the poor. These first round debates were held in St Patrick’s College on Tuesday night and the St Patrick’s Girls are through to the next round.
An tseachtain seo caite ghlac Jessica Walsh, Niamh Crowley agus Kayleigh Walsh páirt i gcomórtas díospóireachta, i bpáirt le Gael linn. Rinne na cailíní an-chuid oibre chuicí agus chaith siad an-chuid ama á cleachtadh, agus ar an lá ba léir go raibh siad ag súil go mór leis an rud. D’eirigh leo dul ar aghaidh go dtí an chéad bhabhta eile, craobh Chorcaí, agus beidh an t-eolas againn faoin rún i gceann cúpla lá. Bhí an comórstas dian go leor ach bhí ár gcailíní den scoth. Bhi na moltóirí á moladh go hárd agus bhí gach duine an-sásta leo ag an deireadh. Táimid ar fad ag tnúth go mór leis an gcéad bhabhta eile agus táimid dóchasach go leanfaidh an dea-obair ar aghaidh.
Last week Jessica Walsh, Niamh Crowley and Kayleigh Walsh took part in a debating competition in association with Gael Linn. The girls did a lot of work to prepare for this debate and spent a lot of time practising for it and on the day it was clear that they were ready for and excited about taking part. They succeeded in going through to the next round, the Cork final, and we will know about the motion of the debate in the next few days. The competition was tight but our girls were excellent. The judges praised all three very highly, and everyone was impressed by them by the end. We are all looking forward to the next round and we are hopeful that this great work will continue.
